WINTER WARDROBE SORT OUT....

A new necklace started me re thinking what I should be wearing.
Some killer heels.... I bought on holiday in February....never worn yet! Do you buy thing you love but never wear?

I decided i needed to put more effort into dressing up and wear some of my nice clothes again,  so i am going to do a bit more dressing up this winter or else I might as well send all my clothes to the Charity shop!

It took me a while to find 'my' shade of orange lol
Ever had your colours done?

So this will be the start to a new wardrobe, a new me......some old items and a few new key pieces to bring all the old items that still fit and I like together.
The biggest reason for this......
I caught a glimpse of my self the other day, still in my old comfortable nightie at lunch time!!!!!!!!
an old bag lady LOOKED BACK AT ME.....NOOOOOOO!
oh! boy was that and eye opener, I threw it in the bin immediately and started to think hard
about me, my age and what I've been wearing these days.
SO...
some old, some new, some made, some bought...but I will not be giving up on my self and lie around in boring but comfortable joggers and an old t-shirt
OR MY OLD NIGHTIE AGAIN..promise
I came across this picture too...at a Status Quo Concert last year.

What was I thinking?...I need a good kick up the bum going out dressed like this to a rock concert.
More colour needed....like my craft room lol...
I've cleaned all my silver jewellery too, so tarnished it was almost black....
SAD to say the least.

Well done for organizing yourself a revamped colourful wardrobe. I will be revamping mine with more interesting accessories! Love the head turban!

  3. Time marches on and one day we all find ourselves in front of the mirror....when did we give up being a bit stylish for baggy clothes of comfort? I am sitting now in my nightgown and sadly I love it!!!!!!! I have to get dressed and spend my Labor Day holiday mowing grass and sweating like a pig. At this point I am not trying to impress anyone, just trying to get a job done. Those heels are killer alright, my feet would be killing me and it has been years since I actually felt safe wearing shoes like that.....in my old age I find I worry more about broken hips. I probably couldn't walk in those to save my life......but, they are pretty. I have become more of a scarf girl now. Love them. And, while cleaning out my clothes closet I decided that the bigger size clothes were going out the door as I took control of my eating and lost the weight. I have a huge range of sizes in my collection from size 8 to 2X.....so you see, I have my work cut out for me.

  4. I had a complete new hairdo last week because I was so fed up looking like an ageing hippie! I love it and don't regret getting my long hair cut a lot shorter because I really like the style. Just got to get new specs now but I will wait until January when I'll be 60 (yes, I'm THAT old!) then get 25% off at Specsavers!(my specs cost me hundreds of pounds so getting a quarter off will be a great saving). I love those heels but would never be able to wear them now without falling over and breaking my ankles! Loving your new look, Sue. That orange really suits you. (I remember last year when you were at the Status Quo concert you weren't feeling great about another birthday but obviously now you're embracing your age - which is just a number anyhoo - and you're looking marvellous). Keep up the good work.x

  5. I love your new shoes and orange is a good colour on you.
I've been there, where I caught a look at myself in the mirror and was greatly saddened. Now every day I put my face on and try to look smart but casual. It actually makes m feel better about myself. I just don't want to,see that person in the mirror again.

  6. Hi Sue,

I love those killer heels and what a great colour they are too!

I think the clothes we choose to wear and indeed the colours make such a difference to how old we look and affect how we feel.

Orange looks great on you but I can't wear it close to my face as I have red enhanced by L'Oreal these days of course ;-)

    1. Hi Susie....thanks they really are quite comfortable too, lol.
oh! for sure you not wront there, getting stuck with an old hairdo is the worst don't you think?....really dates us all.
I am a believer in you can wear all colours but you need the exact shade for you...may be you should try some shades of orange from the pales peach to dark red tone...you never know there might be one of them in there thats looks gorgeous on you..may be some orange gloves..i just bought some grey skin print walking shoes with orange laces...hehe they might work.

    1. Hi..thanks Anna-Marie, you are so right, my motto now is if it doesn't make me feel fabulous then don't buy it, and all the clothes i have i am trying on and using the same thought.
      Nothing is getting though. lol
Hope so, a few fabulous accessories or splashes of colour make such a difference.
You too have a great day

  11. That orange really does suit you and you look wonderful with your hair in that wonderful wrap. You are so right about wearing your loveliest clothes for ordinary life - don't you feel different when you do. I know I, (and I am a one for sloppy-joeing in my jeans and wellies too much) feel much more creative when I wear something I love and tweek my hair a bit!
