WI AND THE GREEN HEART PROJECT


Looking forward to joining  local WI 4 groups with 4 miles i am going to visit, looking for a crafty group that likes to go walking or have an interest in dance maybe, to get me moving again.


GREEN HEART CROCHET PATTERN

The pattern I am using right now to make green hearts and i will be joining the get together on the 
9th Feb 2018 at Shropshires WI Federation headquarters 
Just walking distance for me, it's that close....lucky me

GREEN HEART PATTERN
US TERMS
dk use a 4mm hook
Aran use a 5mm hook
Chunky OR 2 Strands of dk, use a 5 or 6mm hook


Tight finger wrap of 4 wraps
ROUND 1: 11sc into circle wrap, don't, sl st, to complete. Turn


ROUND 2: cont. Ch3, counts as first tr, 2tr into next 4sts, tr, ch3picot, tr into next st, 2tr into next 4 sts, ch3 sl st into last st. Turn.
ch3 as first tr and 8tr
10tr, ch3 for picot
10tr and picot 

 complete round 2 heart

ROUND 3: cont. 4sc in first ch3 [dc replacement] sp, 2sc in next 4sts, 1sc in next 5sts, 4sc in picot loop, sc in next 4sts, 2sc in next 4sts, sl st, in 

first 4sc in ch3 sp
all sc completed

HEART LOOP FOR HANGING
Cont. ch20 sl st into first s pull yarn through and weave/sew in ends
Can be used as a key ring, to hang on a shelf 

chunky yarn compared to dk yarn



GREEN HEART BROOCH 
1: Make a heart but don't add the hanging loop weave/sew in end before making a loop
 2: Cut a slightly smaller heart in plastic sheet and a felt heart the same size as the crochet heart, sew the felt heart to the crochet heart with the plastic heart between
3: Add a brooch pin
4: OPTIONAL, Add a few beads to the front of the brooch to decorate.



GARLAND OR BUNTING
Make several hearts complete before adding a loop
Finger wrap of 5 wraps, 
Round 1: 12 sc into circle wrap, sl st to complete 

Ch15, , sc into centre circle at the centre point of first heart, ch3 sl st into 3rd ch in ch15 length,
ch15, between each heart, sc, into centre of next heart ch15, between hearts, 
repeat 
joining  all your hearts together in the length your require, 
complete with ch12 and add a loop for hanging. finger wrap of 5 wraps 12 sc into circle sew off end.



Stiffen with starch or pva glue or stitch 2 together and pad slightly



I'm sure i can find lots of other uses for these along the way....

  1. Wished you were closer. I would invite you to go dancing with us. Off this morning and again this evening for a little west coast swing, east coast swing, cha cha, salsa and waltz. Plan on crocheting in-between.

    Thank you for the great tutorial on the hearts. Hearts are just one of my favorites! Love the colors in the yarn. Can't wait to try making them.
