SORRY FOR NOT BEING AROUND THE LAST FEW DAYS

The Status Quo show was wonderful...good company, loud music and a drink or two made for a memorable evening... 

We parked ourselves under a big tree so the teeny tiny rainfall, that made an appearance really didn't bother us too much

A good few people had one or two too many..quite amusing to watch as the evening progressed

Dave at the end ended up with a young guy in his lap and a broken chair

Good job it was one of the new chairs that aren't very comfortable lol and is now in the bin

 A FEW DAYS IN DEEP THOUGHT...

Other thoughts made it memorable too and l don't think l will be attending a rock concert again

The whole evening made me think, rather more than l care to think these days, about the state of my health and fitness

There were far too many people just about walking around, who were, l think l said, 

'In need of ironing and about to burst at the seams', it wasn't a comfortable feeling to be in that group and the whole evening brought a few things home to me

We laughed a lot about how we felt but l'm afraid it has left me feeling a little grumpy

Giant Granny progress..

Still playing a bit of Hooky but doing other stuff as well, 

Sorry l'm having a grumpy old woman moment..lasting a bit longer than allowed..lol

Last minute girl l am...so much to do

Status Quo outdoor show tonight.....with friends Alison and Dave same couple we went on holiday with earlier this year and doing the special 60th birthday holiday holiday next year..great friends

They are stopping the night, so of course the curtains that need shortening for their bedroom, 

still need shortening.....will l ever change?.... always last minute l am

I like work. It fascinates me. I sit and look at it for hours. ~ Anonymous

hehehe...and sewing always seem like work  these days

Thanks for the tip WIPSO...so much easier to shorten curtains from the top

We are all looking forward to the show, curry at the local pub first,

 then off to queue hoping to get a good place...taking a nibble or two and a few bottles..

Fireworks to finish off so fingers crossed 

the rain hold off until tomorrow.....sunny at the moment

Local Flower Show

We are all planning on going on the

Moved a few pots around and potted a couple of Hostas, one of my favourites, that weren't doing too well...too much sun l'm afraid

the one that was in a pot and shaded for part of the day as you can see is thriving

ASLEEP ON THE SWING...

Managed a couple more rounds to the blended giant granny square yesterday, almost big cushion size now

before falling asleep on the swing..Splodge thought l'd slept enough and woke me up yet again

love him to bits but he keeps waking me up at night and usually only to see him eat dry food that is already out..so frustrating and tiring too!

Crochet trim for swing seat and a bit of Acrylic yarn blending

Not quite doing it for me yet but l will get there...

Phil doesn't think l should cut up one of our quilts but just use it as throws on the swing...can see what he means....so putting off cutting one of them in half and making it into a set of canopy and cover for now

BLENDED YARN CROCHET 

Wanted to crochet last night, no needed to crochet, but didn't want to think too much about what l was doing.....bit of brain ache hehe

So l found a small sample of blended 100% ColourMart Merino wool, l'd done over a year ago as inspiration

Natural yarns (small sample in the middle above picture) are usually subtle shades, 

something you don't usually get from acrylics...but

 Can you tell the difference between these two pieces of crochet?
By trying a blend of 2 or 3 colours it all changes....

The picture above is a 3 strand blend of Stylecraft Acrylic compared to the 

100% merino (small sample in the front)

The colourings are subtle in both and to be honest the acrylic one is a lot softer compared to the merino and for me doesn't make me itch!

Just a tip
for anyone wanting to use acrylics...they are cheaper, softer, none itchy and if you think they aren't subtle and interesting...think again!
So don't be put off using Acrylics

A SUBTLE 3 STRAND BLEND OF ACRYLIC GRANNY SQUARE

and there are some quite bright colours in this sample but l don't think you would know it

from a subtle natural yarn do you?

MY FIRST BLANKET

The very first blanket l made over 45 years ago, was a giant granny square lap blanket....l remember it well, 70's colours of browns oranges and golden yellows, but in rug wool hehe

No softness there, but it was what l had and it had huge tassels on each corner

Wish l knew what had happened to it!
This blended granny square lap blanket will be another giant granny square in memory of my 1st

Have fun and give blending a go..lots of fun and interesting yarns appear from no where lol

Loving these cycle panniers....from Daisy wheel

bit more than plain black ones but l love them, would make going cycle shopping so much fun

LATE NIGHT GARDENING...

Lots of swinging yesterday and l should have been doing a garden tidy, lots of energy last night so l did it at 9-10.30 pm last night....told you that swing would get some use lol

Started to crochet the triangle flower canopy border last night...fingers crossed something to see by tomorrow

KING SIZE QUILT WILL MAKE A NEW SEAT COVER AND CANOPY

Been playing and swinging in between washing this morning...oh boy that swing will have something to answer for...just so cosy

Brupbrup thinks so too...l knew he would be the first to check it out and we shared a moment or two

While l played with a couple of quilts as new seat and canopy..one would make both with a backing fabric to the seat cover...

Splodge took a look but wasn't as impressed as Old Bruppers

just needed to share this 'best buy' of the year hehe
