I just love this stitch, Sue and the lacy edge is a nice contrast to the lines. This would look fun as a scarf too!! I'm crazy about scarves at the moment! I want to pep up my new winter coat!

So adorable! Can you please explain "anchor"? Does that mean slip stitch, single crochet, or maybe something else?
ReplyDeleteHi attach yarn to start a row, or anchor with a slip stitch as you do the row.
DeleteHope that helps?

I've been wanting to try this stitch, and since this post was made on my birthday, I think I'll take the hint and give it a go! I hadn't seen it done in a soft, lacy way until now. It looks very pretty.
ReplyDeleteHi there! I'm about to start this pattern for the first time for a baby blanket. I'm wondering if you tie/cut off after each row or if you keep the yarns going and keep along the edges? Also, what size hook did you use? I'm using G with baby soft yarn and it does not seem to be gappy as well as yours. I have only completed two block rows, which might be the reason, but thought I would check. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi good luck with you baby blanket....if you can keep the yarn running and don't cut off but if the space from one colour to the next s too far or you work the pattern one sided then you might need to cut off.
DeleteGappy? It could be the yarn I used a soft Chunky and a 5mm hook
Hope that helps.

I just did a blanket a meter long by a meter wide and had to cut the yarn off at the ends and work them in as I changed colors. I tried carrying on a row and it showed too much (I was using worsted weight). I was wondering though. How do you deal with the thick ends with all those worked in ends? I did a single crochet all around first then did some fancy stitching but those thick edges really contrasted poorly with the really neat top and bottom. My only complaint about this particular stitch. My son really liked the thickness of it for a baby blanket though for the Wisconsin cold.
ReplyDeleteHi..those pesky ends, always a problem i always try to crochet over the top of them weave into the back of stitch then crochet over the top. But they can make the ends a little thicker....a huge problem sometimes

Well done with the book ,I too wrote a crochet book but based on items rather than squares, love your blog
ReplyDeleteI love this look. I need some clarification regarding the direction to "anchor on first stitch". What does that mean?
ReplyDeleteHi 'attach' does that make it clearer have fun c
