URBAN OBSESSION...Gets my vote

Second coat on, I will let it dry over night then tidy the white where i've had the shakes and it needs a bit of tiding.....not got such a steady hand these days

But i couldn't resist a little playtime...what to put over the fireplace now its got a new look...

not for Christmas but for the rest of the year...

the nail is a little high, would need to drop down a few inches but a few things around the house that might look great over the fireplace

or maybe a star shaped Mirror

lots more options but the camera died so on charge ready for the next options

URBAN OBSESSION DECORATED ROOM FOR CHRISTMAS 2015

Dulux in Urban Obsession, first coat on...

And a few more stars made....had to wait 4 hours between coats so decided to do the second coat today.
loving how it looks, very period feel to the wall now..
before i did the top wall sections..liked it a lot
but i kept going and for a few minutes wasn't sure....but its made the room look bigger we think....definitely needs a second coat

the giant stars don't look quite so big on the new wall...might need to make at least one even bigger

Made a few more Stars in the late afternoon/evening
in red and black with a flower incorporated into the star instead of applying a flower, experimenting so nearly all are different

Another coat of paint today and then all the furniture can go back for now...going to add a new mantle shelf a bit wider so I can put the light on it i think.

Giant Alpaca Stars.....

Some one went out yesterday taking the car and saying I will only be a couple of hours...I needed the car to go get the paint for the decorating.....

Someone didn't get back until almost 5 in the afternoon...

So no painting yesterday.
But  it will be on the wall today

But I made some progress with the Alpaca stars...i haven't really got a firm idea of what I'm making...just letting it happen so very much a work in progress to share today

very happy with this giant star so far...next step? not so sure....
into a frame or stiffen them as independent pieces ?

or use the frame as a means to stiffen them?

still pondering on that one?

Urban Obsession....and Alpaca decorations

The first of the grey and red decorations in Alpaca
some will need stiffening and some are added to the tops of pudding containers,

Lots of pudding eating went on to collect these together....
all ready to make decorations with

Think I've decided to go for the dark shade....no definitely i'm going for the dark shade...

This is the picture I have adore for months and its the darker grey....so going for it

We might even try to add the oak mantle too with hooks on it so hanging Christmas decorations will be easy in the future
Phil likes the dark shade, it's as near as dam it to the colour we painted our front door earlier in 2015

It was a new Oak door but black specks appeared on it, we were warned it might happen as it gets direct rainfall...

So having loved the oak we had to paint it, the spots of black couldn't be removed so oak to Dark Grey, but we loved it and still do.

so i'm sure the dark grey in the lounge will be ok....nervous!

POORLY SPLODGE, PAINT CHIPS, AND CHRISTMAS CROCHET...

I've had a very poorly cat over the last 3 weeks, now well on the way to recovery

I have finished commissioned crochet work for 2015.....

So now I have time to spend on my Christmas preparations.
Christmas presents, for obvious reasons I can't share with you.

But Christmas decorations and my Crochet for Christmas I can share.

A Grey and Red Christmas
This year I'm going to use Grey and Red with a Ivory for the decorations....
the new grey sofas and carpet we bought, earlier this year, helped in making the decision.

I've compiled a folder of pictures on
Pinterest HERE for Inspiration
I will add to it as the time goes on I expect.

Next step was to gather the Grey, Red, Ivory and black stash together
Plenty to play with, from acrylic, merino, cotton, cashmere, mohair and Alpaca my favourite some pure and some mixed....4ply, DK, Aran and Chunky

One of the first things i want to do is finish decorating the fireplace wall with grey paint
This is the room to be decorated
pre grey carpets...similar colour to the sofas though
But what shade of grey to use?

this is not going to be the quick and easy job i first thought!

Dark grey

mid/darkish grey like the sofas and carpets?
only the middle section of the whole wall?
leave the fireplace white?
or light grey?
off to the DIY Store for some paint chips first i think...wish me luck.
