PARTS 1- 5 RULE OF 12, SCRAP YARN MINI CAL: Cushion, Wrap or Blanket

A recap today of parts 1 - 5, same pattern just 5 different sets of colours
A simple 3 round circle joined together in an octagon with an infill that gives you a sort of interesting wrought iron second pattern.
UPDATE: I found the ball band and the black and white/grey yarn I'm using is the HAYFIELDS ARAN TWEED

PART 1: Shades of Reds/Pinks/Oranges

PART 2: Shades of purples

PART 3: Shades of green

PART 4: Shades of Blues

PART 5: Shades of Rust/orange

Parts 6 and 7 the joining rounds will be next week
I rethought how i was going to share the pattern as it's the weekend and a time when some might have more time to crochet and i didn't want to hold anyone up.

I added the last 3 colours and found that 5 blocks of 9 was more than enough for a wrap and it measures over 6' long, so slightly less crochet for the wrap.

BASIC RULE OF 12 CIRCLE PATTERN
12, 24,36 dc in each round will give you a perfect flat circle for this pattern it doesn't matter which stitch you start in

Make 9 in each set of colours, to make a wrap the same as mine.
But, you could use one of the sets of colours if you prefer
or make them all mixed up instead of in blocks of shade of one colour.

As its a scrap yarn wrap/blanket it will depend on what you have.
Joining is done in one colour, but it could just as easily be made in lots of colours too say all the different shades of neutral instead of just one colour black, charcoal, grey, silver, oatmeal, cream or even navy of brown....just have fun with colour for this one and stash bust too.

PATTERN:
5mm hook and ARAN yarn
4mm hook and DK yarn, slightly smaller circles.

Finger wrap of 4 wraps.
ROUND 1: cont. in same col. [ch2 counts as first dc], 12dc into circle wrap, sl st to complete [12dc]
ROUND 2: change col. [ch2 counts as first dc] 2dc in each st, sl st to complete. [24dc]

ROUND 3: change col. [ch2 counts as first dc], 2dc in first st, 1dc in next st work alternate 2/1 to end of round, sl st to complete. [36dc]

if you want to see the previous post bout this wrap then scroll back through the last 3 days posts.

Next week i will do parts 6 and 7 the joining and infill pattern that makes the fabulous secondary pattern to this Mini Cal
Enjoy your weekend All x

RULE OF 12 SCRAP YARN MINI CAL: Yarn and colour options

Just a few pictures and yarn notes today to show you.
Rule of 12 Mini Cal....the perfect flat circle 12, 24, 36dc.

PART 3 below and PARTS 4 AND 5 NEXT WEEK.

PART 2 HERE

As a wrap with a black and grey joining yarn......4 blocks of 9 motifs made.
Two blocks more, to make it over 6' long its going to be a colourful snuggly wrap for the Winter.

UPDATE: Actually, I found  5 blocks of 9 motifs was perfect for a wrap and just over 6' long so I  saved myself a little bit of crochet time

And the first pictures of the blanket option I have made...these pictures are of the half way mark

YARN NOTES:
The Tweed yarn I am using I think is the Hayfields Aran, it was 400g ball, I had from
Black Sheep Wools, unfortunately i cant find it on the web site and i've lost the label so not sure, its a scrap yarn project so be inventive.

Black/grey Tweed yarns: Hayfields Aran Tweed, Woodcraft Aran [this is quite a dark one], James C Brett, Marble too in the black and grey would work and Scheepjes Secret Garden in col. 710 Stepping Stones.
So lots of black and white black and grey yarns for the back ground to pick from.

or mix your own with 2strands of a thinner dk.
Just work the two strands together to make one tweed yarn
Black and grey [softer] or black and white [slightly more dramatic], both work well.
3 options to try

this picture is of the yarn i am actually using you can see its 6 fine strands, black and pale grey twisted together in pairs and then plied into one Aran weight yarn

OR
Use your favourite shade of grey, charcoal or black as a single colour and as you can see the pattern works well with the lighter natural shades too of beige, parchment or oatmeal.

Have fun and use your favourite back ground colour and as its a scrap blanket, what ever you have enough of in your stash

Try a strand of each acrylic/merino, 2 strands of wool/acrylic, 2 strand of merino, or cotton, alpaca or mohair, mix it up for interest.
What ever your decide to try, be experimental and enjoy the pattern

A Wrap Option x 6 blocks over 6' long, all the reds and oranges first then came the purples...

Next will be the greens..and then the blues and orange/oatmeal and the yellows the other side of the reds for my wrap .

A Blanket option with a light background joining colour and coloured banded circles, just for a change!

Splodge getting in on the act...

I have two of each colour this is half of them.......quick to join together

5mm hook for Aran

Todays PART 2 is to make 9 x 3round circles in 6-9 shades of purple using the
Rule of 12 circle  pattern

Make 9 different circles of 3 colours each for part 2
Each round is in a different shade of purple weave in ends and crochet over them as you go

Finger wrap of 4 wraps.
ROUND 1: cont. in same col. [ch2 counts as first dc], 12dc into circle wrap, sl st to complete [12dc]

and I bet you can guess what colour will be next in line? lol

JOINING CIRCLES TOGETHER

I am going to give you 3 colours and then the joining pattern because after 3 colours you will need to decide on a wrap or blanket....
Wrap: a long row of 6 blocks [9 motifs in each colour] over 6' long
or
Blanket: 3 rows of 3 colours side by side
so one more colour to come and you will be going them together

PART 3:
Using the same pattern make 9 circles in shades of green

About a week ago i gave you a couple of new lacy options for joining squares
I'm using a version of option 3 for a new

You can see i've changed the centre flower for the New Camper Blanket/wrap, it shows you if you have a 12 section centre you can add this join to any similar square

Daisy Camper blanket/wrap pattern
For now all I have done is a long first row over 6' so perfect length for a wrap to start me off

 Lacy join option 3:
NooNoo Camper is getting a make over with a new wrap/blanket using the new table cloth as inspiration
I say wrap/blanket because it will be a 6' wrap to start with and grow over time
