NEW YARNS...How to create a range of your own colours

Unused yarn?..... do you have a yarn you loved, bought and then didn't know what to make with it? 

Several balls of this multi coloured yarn is waiting for just the right project, but nothing i tried worked for me. 

 Decided to mix it with several pain dk yarns to give me several colours of the same yarn, far more useable now. Some work better than others but from one yarn i now have several different colours of a rainbow tweed yarn to play with...another Rule of 12 maybe but with another join method maybe, for now i just making lots of 3 round, Rule of 12 circles and thinking about the join to come..

I have made 64 circles out of 2 balls of the150g Aran weight yarn from Pound Stretcher

Mixing it with 400g Emu Aran 25% wool as the back ground colour..

 I managed to complete all 64 circles yesterday and 2 Rows joined so far, i worked like a mad person yesterday so i didn't need to think too much about how sad I felt,

 a very sad day yesterday.....

 RIP Lettuce, you will be so missed XX

each circle is taking approx. 5g of yarn, a 150g ball of yarn has given me 32circles

To make  blanket 7 x 9 rows, measuring approx. 37" x 48" minus a border, will take 2 balls and leave a little over to add to the border, i hope!

the yarn is coming out with dark light and middle colouring circles so i'm hope there will be enough circles

I need...

28 dark circles for the outer round

22 mid colour and

13 light circles 

Pattern: centre diamond of light circle, border of dark circles and fill in with the mid colour.

 is from Pound Stretcher and cost £2.99 for 150g all acrylic
Background Tweedy Aran is a 400g ball of Emu Aran with 25% wool

CIRCLE TO SQUARE BLANKET PATTERN

Over the weekend there were 2 questions on my Facebook group. 

1: WHAT YARN WOULD YOU TAKE ON HOLIDAY AS A HOLIDAY PROJECT?

2: HAVE I GOT A RULE OF 12 SOLID JOIN?

Im combining the 2 answers together as an answer with an update on a very old pattern.

Random dyed yarn....lots of colours so you can make something with getting bored with the same colour. Hot? then use cotton yarns less sticky to work with than wool or acrylic.

And yes i have a basic solid join for the rule of 12..here is a basic pattern in a random/space dyed yarn for you to use...

RANDOM DYED YARN...perfect for a holiday project just one or two balls of yarn needed plus a joining col.

 RANDOM DYED YARN....All the circles will be different and will make a lovely blanket

Finger wrap of 4 wraps.

ROUND 1: [ch2 counts as first dc], 12dc into circle wrap, sl st to complete [12dc]

ROUND 2: [ch2 counts as first dc] 2dc in each st, sl st to complete. [24dc]

ROUND 3: [ch2 counts as first dc], 2dc in first st, 1dc in next st, repeat, sl st to complete. [36dc]

ROUND 4: Change to back ground col. [ch2 counts as first dc], 2dc in first st, 1dc in next 2sts, repeat, sl st, to complete. [48dc]

ROUND 5: cont. in back ground col.  ch3, 1tr, into first  st, ch3, 2tr, into same st, 1tr, in next st, 1dc in next 2 sts, 1hdc, in next 5sts, 1dc in next 2 sts, 1tr, in next st, 2tr, ch3, 2tr, as next corner, repeat for all sides, sl st to complete.

Join as you go on round 5, using a sl st, after each st to join to the previous square, and replacing the middle ch st, in the corners with a sl st, to join together.
