Sunday 2 October 2016

Skipton, Yarndale, Truly Hooked, Ananuca, Dog Daisy Chains and White Rose Knitting Group.

I went to SKIPTON for 4 days last week to 'do' Yarndale, a bit of sight seeing and catch up with friends and my sleep. Had a wonderful time, not my favourite day on the Saturday bit like sardines i'm afraid but the atmosphere was buzzing, Sunday was a far better day if you wanted to see the stands in all their glory and chat with the stall holders. We stopped at the Travelodge almost next to the show, within walking distance in fact. Said Hello to  crochet designers and friends Jane Crowfoot and Amanda  Perkins.....lots more to come about these two wonderful designers soon.

We had most of our meals at Keelhan Farm Shop right next door between us and the show.
visited a few fabulous beauty spots, went to the cute vintage looking cinema to see Bridget Jones' Baby. Slept a lot, chatted a lot and crocheted a lot too.

I bought some wonderful yarns from Truly Hooked,  who will be at Ally Pally this week too, cya there.

A fabulous necklace from
Who won best stand in show

I bought a beautiful embroidered brooch from Dog Daisy Chains I've been admiring these stunners for years..now i own one too worn it every day since i bought it.

We had a couple of trips into Skipton only a 5minute bus ride into town, and found a fabulous wool shop. Sold in yarn packs mostly, thanks Julie you have a wonderful shop and the prices are fabulous...bit like pick and mix but we couldn't stay away lol.

made some possible bunting from one of Truly Hooked sock yarns..colour Highlighter

its the WIP on a wrap really, but wouldn't it make great bunting too?
Added some cotton yarn in a fine mix of several threads of black and white...another fab pack from
lots more to come on this wrap soon and a pattern on

I also made lots more triangles for another 'It's A Wrap' from another 2 packs from Julie's wonderful shop......
I'm using the same pattern as this Batik one below. Only using space/random dyed yarns this time.
I was complimented and asked several times about the wrap while at the show....another pattern to come soon on  Ravelry

  1. Sounds like we had a very similar experience including going to Julie's yarn shop, what a find! This year we stayed at Rendevous hotel for a change, lovely walks along the canal into Skipton, ready for breakfast at Coopers. I too found Saturday a nightmare, way too crowded but Sunday was great. I made an asymmetrical shawl whilst I was there but the yarn (yak and silk) didn't have enough stretch for the pattern. I'm going to frog it and make a more structured shawl with it instead.
