PATTERN POST: GRANNY SQUARE TARTAN

DK yarn, 
4mm hook
US Terms

PATTERN: 
Make several 8 round granny squares and join as you go to make a granny square tartan throw the size you require. Follow the pictures for the colour changes, each grouping of colour makes a small square, except for the last round 
Square or rectangular 

Each motif measures 6.5" / 16.5cm






Using the pictures to colour change in each round.


Round 1: Col.1 sage

Round 2: Col 2. gold


round 1              round 2
round 3                  round 4


Round 3: Col 2. gold and Col 3.lilac

change colour on the last pull through of the last st

Round 4: Col 3. lilac and Col 4. turquoise

Round 5: Col 3.Lilac, Col 4. Turquoise, Col 5: Lime

Round 6: Col 1. Sage and Col 5.LIME


Round 7: Col 3 Lilac, Col. 5 Lime, Col 1. Sage

Round 8: Final and join as you go round in Col 1. Lilac

 Join as you go each 8 round granny square






Add a border:
Several rows of granny shell to complete throw
UPDATE:
A shades square might help with deciding on what colours to do your square in
and shows where the light and dark colours are in my square

  2. I love these, but I'm struggling with carrying the colour without it looking really messy. Do you know of any helpful tutorials? I've been looking for something like this for ages, thankyou so much :)

    1. Hi sorry don't know of any but you just hold the yarns to be carried and crochet over them as yo do the next stitches, to cover the carried yarns xx

    1. Hi, you just hold the yarns to be carried and crochet over them as you do the next stitches, to cover the carried yarns and then pick up the correct colour as and when you need it xx
