Little bit of Easter break playtime Square Spiral....make a good blanket i think not got the right colours yet for the centre squares.....but it works as an idea,

 I think.

PART 2: COLOUR AND THE TEXTURED EYE MOTIF

Starting todays post with all 4 of the colour combinations i have used, but with 11 colours, there are many you could use so be creative and mix them up if you want to.

US TERMS

ARAN....5mm Hook, for a Blanket 

DK....4mm Hook, for a Throw

4PLY...3mm Hook, for a Wrap

WEIGHT

Made in ARAN, each eye motif weight approx 56g for the flat pattern, 

approx. 76g for the Textured centre eye pattern before the outer bands

A great stash buster so no cost involved..win, win, especially as we are all on lock down or your local wool shop is closed...

very quiet here, the earth is healing slowly.

PART 2: TEXTURED CENTRE EYE MOTIF

This is a deeply textured centre using popcorn stitch, bobble stitch , working into front and back of the stitches and an extra raised leaf round into the front of the st.

PICTORIAL HELP FOR POPCORN STITCH

US Terms

Finger wrap of 10 wraps

ROUND 1: 12sc into circle, sl st to complete. [12sc]

ROUND 2: Popcorn stitch of 5tr, ch2 between, att. yarn in any st, ch3 counts as first tr, 4tr, into same st, turn to the back and sl st into sp between ch2 and first tr, [this is the only time you use this sp], ch2, 5tr into next st, turn sl st, into ch2 sp, repeat for the remaining 10sts, sl st to complete. [12 tr st, popcorns]

ROUND 3: Bobble Stitch, Att. yarn in the ch2 sp, between popcorns, 5htr, hold st, on hook, draw last st through all sts on hook, ch1, sl st into NEXT st, repeat in all sts, sl st, to complete. [12 Bobble sts]

ROUND 4: Att. yarn in sp, between bobble 4dc in each sp, sl st to complete. [48dc]

ROUND 5: WORK INTO THE BACK LOOP OF THIS STITCH ONLY 

Att, yarn in first st, of any group of 4, ch2 counts as first dc, dc in next 3 sts, ch2, dc in next 4sts, ch2 repeat to end, sl st to complete.

 [48dc, 12 ch2 sp]

EXTRA LEAF ROUND

Work into the front loops of round 4sts, to create a raised leaf look.

Att. same colour yarn as round 4, in the first st, ch2, dc into same st, dc in next st, ch2 sl st into same st, repeat this in every 2 sts to give 24 small leaves

FROM HERE IT IS THE SAME AS THE FLAT PATTERN

ROUND 6: [double 'v' st] att. yarn in 2nd hdc, of round before, 2tr, ch3, 2tr, in same st, miss 3sts, repeat in next second hdc, miss 3 sts, repeat to end, sl st to complete. [12 Double 'v' sts]

ROUND 7: att, yarn in any sp, between the double 'v' st, 3dc, ch3, 3dc [shell st], in next ch3 sp, sc, in next sp between, repeat, sl st to complete. 

[12 shell sts]

CONTINUE WITH THE FLAT PATTERN

Add 2 spears and the final bands, leave round 8 for Part 3: Joining.

Friday evening is always a welcome cheese and wine evening with a little hooky playtime. I've had a request for a mosaic design and some basic instruction on how to do Mosaic stitch, so this will be the playtime on the Friday evening.

SIMPLY CROCHET CHRISTMAS COWL...original design

Do you remember the Simply Crochet cowl I did for Christmas 2017, in a beautiful 

Debbie Bliss yarn

Well....still sorting through loads of samples I found the original design its been made in 3 colours of Wendy Aurora 

This was the original design from 2017, i adapted to the yarn requirements of the Simply Crochet Christmas Cowl project, 

basically its US terms here.....the Golden 3 row pattern made into a 6 square, triangle for the ends of the scarf, with a 6 stitch ripple, miss 3sts, for bottom turn, and 2dc, ch2, 2dc, for the top turn.

Love the strong Colours in the 3 balls of Aurora i used.

Edged in Ionosphere, using one of the edging stitch in the Simply crochet cowl pattern.

MARCH WORKSHOP...FABULOUS WEEKEND THANK YOU

Well another wonderful workshop has ended, lots of laughter, fun and a shared passion for crochet.

Everyone had a wonderful time, they've been well fed and went home having learnt 5 new patterns and their possible options.
