Couple of crochet tips....

A few days ago l had a go at crochet chainless foundation....improves on the sometimes tight tension of a chain start and if you use a double crochet gives the first row as well
less curly and so much easier than the chain and first fiddly row
several methods on the net but this one is quite good...
You tube DC Chainless Foundation
I also used makers for every 20 chain stitches and a different colour for 100...makes counting easier if you are making a large blanket

It now looks like this at the moment, trying to make a light weight blanket in DK and a 4mm hook.
Right now l really am struggling with the giant granny, one may be 2 rounds and l've had enough

So why, oh! why have l started another blanket?.....lol thinking of it as a scarf that might grow lol
Trying to trick my mind

THE GIANT GRANNY
Definitely needs blocking, I still need to do about 9 more rounds
I think it is the navy SC rounds that made it so misshaped
Not the right colours but just wanted to see roughly how many stars l'll need to make...
probably 10 or 11....x 4 = 40 or 44...oh l need to get a move on 'cos James wants a cable knit hat too!

Outdoor Christmas tree
Wind and rain blew the star about a bit last night but it is still standing and still works hehe
made with an old parasol stand, a pole (Phil uses for somthing), some garden twine, tie wraps, a few tent pegs and 36metres of outdoor lights

Merry Christmas everyone x

  1. Have you thought of teaching James to knit? He could make his own cable hat! ;-)

  6. Hi Suz,
Thanks for your lovely comments on my Christmas quilt. I didn't think about using pieces of old embroidery, thanks for the idea! I know how you feel about granny rounds. One of my blankets is smaller than I planned because I couldn't bear to do any more! But I do love blankets so will carry on making them, probably moaning the whole time!

Merry Christmas and lots of love,
