PATTERN: STRIPED SQUARE



For now how about a few stripes..2 rows of sc in a variety of colours
rainbow of wavy stripes 
lots of blue stripes
pastels

greens and reds
 and some tweedy ones too..
Don't you just love stripes?


PATTERN FOR A 2 COLOUR SINGLE ROW STRIPE SQUARE
Base Chain of 25sts, gives me a 6" square
4mm hook and dk yarn.

Ch25, turn
Row 1: sc in second st from hook, sc in every st to end, in las sc change to col 2. in the pull through of last st, ch1, turn. [24sc]
Row 2: sc, in first and next 23sts, pull yarn through st, and hold. [24sc]
Row 3: Return to first col. at the other end of work, hook through first st pull up 1st col. ch1, sc in first st, sc in next 23sts, changing to 2nd col. on the last st, ch1, turn. [24sc]
Row 4: repeat row 2 and 3 until you have a 6" square.

 Change col. for each row on the last stitch of previous row.


PATTERN FOR A 2COLOUR DOUBLE ROW STRIPE SQUARE.
Ch25, in col 1. turn
Row 1: sc in second st from hook, sc in every st to end, in last sc change to col 2. in the pull through of last st, ch1, turn. [24sc]
Row 2: cont. in col 2. sc, in first and next 23sts, ch1, turn. [24sc]
Row 3: cont in col 2. sc in first and next 23sts, change to col 1. on last st, pull col1. yarn through last st, ch1, sc in first st, sc in next 23sts, cont. in col 1. ch1 turn
Row 4: sc in first and next 23sts, cont. in col 1. ch1 turn.
Row 5: sc in first and next 23sts. change to col 2. on last st
repeat until you have a 6" square. 
Change col. every 2nd row of stripe on the last stitch of previous row. 

A double row stripe gives a more defined stripe.
If you use a space dyed yarn for the second col. then you will have a lot more colours in your square and only used 2 yarns 

JOINING SQUARES
Stitch squares together in the same direction or alternate the stripes 90degs.
or you could use your favourite joining stitch.
