Giant 6 Petal Flower version with no infills PATTERN
Another similar flower to the Giant 8 petal, but this one only has 6 petals and can be joined like a hexagon with no filler.
Make all the difference sizes and layer them up too
AND FOR THOSE THAT ASKED ABOUT THE ORIGINAL IDEA
To make a jacket...this is as far as it got
GIANT 6 PETAL FLOWER PATTERN
US Terms,
DK, 4mm Hook
Aran, 5mm hook
2strands of dk 6mm hook
Pattern:
Chain 4, sl st into a circle, finger wrap of 4 wraps, or a magic circle
Round 1: 12 dc into the circle, sl st to complete round
Round 2: 2dc in each st, sl st to complete round.
Round 3: attach yarn in any stitch, dc in next 4 sts, ch4, dc in next 4 sts, repeat until you have 6 loops.
Round 4 : attach yarn in the middle of the 4dc of round below to anchor petal, 7dc into the chain loop, sl between the 4dc of round below, repeat until all 6 petals are complete, sl st to finish
Join as you go in a hexagon pattern.
chose just a few colours or make every flower different

Giant 8 petal Flower in dk Cotton...Another CAL anyone?
It's smaller but work beautifully in Cotton too...get all your bright colour of cotton out
and the 4mm hook...a couple of flowers every day and we will have a blanket/wrap made in no time at all...another CAL anyone?
Measures approx. 4.5" [11.5cm] 4mm hook
Original Flower in 2 strand of dk measures approx. 7.5" [19cm] 6mm hook

8 PETAL GIANT FLOWER..Requested pattern
A requested pattern from 20111... Took some finding lol
GIANT 8 PETAL PATTERN
2 Strands of dk slightly different colours
6mm hook
this flower can be made with Aran and 5mm hook or
dk and 4mm hook but will be considerable smaller
magic circle
ROUND 1: ch2 [counts as first dc] 11dc into circle pull tight. [12dc]
ROUND 2: Att new col. ch2 [counts as first dc] dc into same st, 2 dc into each st, sl st, to complete. [24dc]
ROUND 3: Att. new col. ch2 [counts as first dc] dc in same st, 2dc, in next st, miss next st, ch5, 2dc in next 2sts, ch5, repeat to end sl st, to complete. [8 x ch5 loops]
ROUND 4: Att, 4th col. between the 2 pairs of dc, 8dc, into ch5 loop, sl st between 2 pairs of dc, repeat for each petal.
JOIN AS YOU GO
Use a sl st, after the 4th dc of each petal to join to sp between 4th and 5th dc of matching flower you want to join it too.
INFILL
Magic Circle
ROUND 1: ch2, 15dc into circle, sl st, to complete. pull tight [16dc]
ROUND 2: Att. second col. or continue with same col. ch2 [counts as first dc] dc into same st, 2dc in next st, ch1, sl st into first sp to join, ch1, 2dc in next 2 sts, repeat for each section until joined in the hole created by joining 4 flowers together [8 x 4dc sides]
CHUNKY RUG Pattern
This rug is made with a similar pattern
3 strands of Chunky yarn or 6 strands of DK
12mm hook
Row 1: magic circle with 8 DC (3chain as first DC)(8sts)
Row 2: 2dc in each stich with a chain st between each (16sts)
Row 3: 2dc 3 chain and 2dc in each space
Row 4: 7dc in the loop made by the 3 chain of previous row and sl st in the middle of the 4dc of previous row
use the join as you go method of joining each of the flowers together using 2 petals for each join
Fill-in
the large hole is made up of the 8 petal sides..3 sts each making a total of 24 sts
Row 1: Magic circle with 12 dc (2chain as first dc)
Row 2: 2 dc in each stitch using the join as you go method of sl stitching into the 24 stitches of the petal sides then sl st into the first st to finish off
OPEN CENTRE VERSION
slightly more open center to the flower so the second round is
chain 4 as the 1st DC and 1chain space then a DC in every stitch and a chain between each
12 in total then the
3rd round is 3dc in each chain space
4th round as before

ORIGINAL 8 PETAL GRANNY SQUARES PATTERN
WRAP OR A THROW
YARN: Rooster Aran in a selection of colours about 16, 4 in shades of green
Black Aran as background
Ch5, sl st into circle, magic circle or a finger wrap of 4 wraps.
ROUND 1: 16sc into circle, sl st to complete (16sc)
ROUND 2: 8 Cluster sts. 2dc in first st, 2dc in second st, cluster tog, one in every 2 sts, with ch3 between each cluster making the 'FLOWER' sl st, to complete. (8 petals)
ROUND 3: 3dc ch3 3dc in the first corner, ch1 3dc in side sp, ch1 repeat for all sides, sl st to complete. (3granny shells for each side)
ROUND 4: join as you go black round. 3dc ch3 3dc in first corner, ch1 3dc ch1 3dc ch1 side, repeat for all sides, sl St to complete. ( 4granny shells for each side)
Make row of 3 motifs 13" (33cms) x about 14 rows may be 15 rows for a wrap around 60" (52.5cm)
NEW LACEY JOIN AS YOU GO
Isn't that different, just repeat the same3dc, ch3, 3dc, in the side space as well as the corners, join together using the middle ch st by replacing with a sl st into the square before
