Early preparations for a Workshop at Home...

A few years ago we bought one of the huge extendable Norden tables from Ikea, after a couple of years I decided it was just too big for the space. So we divided it into a work table in a small room in the old house and used the middle leaf for another project and made a smaller table from the second half.....I still have the half table and 8 chairs....not big enough for at ,east 11 people

Having thoughts of doing a workshop at home i needed a that large table again, to seat around 11/12. We found the same long table for sale on eBay at a fraction of the cost and collected it last night.

My workoom at the moment is in desperate need of a huge tidy up, planned as soon as we've got rid of the old kitchen units piles up along one wall (new kitchen arrives tomorrow and the old one will be recycled over the next couple of days...off to be used in friends garages and workroom).

So still a little cramped right now but Phil bless him put it all together for me last night after i cleared enough space for it down the centre of my workroom....lots of tidying up and sorting out to do but it's just perfect for a workshop and with the half Norden table I still have it will sit around 12 easily.....and when the old kitchen units have been removed will have a good space all the way around at the moment its pushed to one side a little.

So many blankets hanging on the back of all the chairs...really must sort out at least one double cupboard at the end of the workroom to store some of them or there wont be enough room to sit on the chairs!

One thing i was sure about was a free standing Larder/pantry unit in Oak for the side of the kitchen we have the oak sideboard
so this has been ordered

can't wait for it to arrive...

right now we still look in a bit of a mess
the hole in the floor grew to 4 times the original size because of cut tiles around the wall but tiler here today to level floor so hopefully the messy bits will soon be completed

But the en suite is looking great now with the new p shape shower bath

SPLASHING THE WINTER COLOUR AROUND!

We moved back into the front sitting room on Monday now it's getting cold in the conservatory after sun down.....decided to move the furniture around yet again and make a throw for the hated sofa in there...not our usual Ikea buy!!!

Decided it needs a throw to match the loved rug......

Tried Attic24's RIPPLE PATTERN OUT....with a few alterations of course hehe
single row of double strand DK...so easy to do...thanks Lucy nice pattern
Used a few experiments with colour in one cushion front...Phil liked it....l like bits of it but not really all together.....
So going to use the Ikea rug as the colour inspiration...we both adore that rug...to make a ripple throw over the winter and going to use pure wool instead of the usual cheap acrylic wool
Although l do love the colours you can find locally in acrylic...not so keen on the feel of it and l hate the way it squeaks when l get hot....my age l'm afraid!! hehe
Spread all the unfinished experiments l've tried out over the last couple of months too.....must do something with them all...eventually!! hehe
Thanks to......
Rose Hip...the beautiful cushion and the wonderful colour combo l saw and just had to use
Colour Creations....Her stripy bag inspiration with flowers that reminded me of the bags l used to make in the 60's and 70's and
Sarah London...monthly patterns and wonderful colour use
Attic24 for her gorgeous colourful blankets and her brilliant photographs and wonderful writting for inspiring me to get hooked again

CONSOLE FINISHED

Large Black TV Unit that we cut in two to make 2 console tables one for the dining room and one for my shed...all finished now

Called at Ikea to pick up the wooden top yesterday on the way home from Brum

Bit to long and at first thought we would cut the extra length down but decided to keep it and l may add a small rail each end for hanging stuff on but not sure yet

The other half of the black unit is also painted white and in my shed for the laptop printer and laminator
MAY 27TH 2011 UPDATE...
moved in 2010 and the consoles together made me a big craft room table to work on
click link to see it now
soon to be re-hacked into a hinged sandwich craft table to hide the mess and do an instant tidy up so the room can be used by all, all the time and not just as a craft space

MADE A NEW WOOL BAG TODAY

Made a new wool bag today bought a couple of metres of plastic fabric in Dunelm sale a bit ago and l needed a bag big enough to keep all the Acrylics in one place....or it will hold 3 or 4 folders
Pmacs suggested l use that fabric to make Noo Noo's storage bags...brill idea as l couldn't get the bags from Ikea yesterday.....

IKEA sale going on there too and they had a beautiful cream iron bed and guess how much?.............£29.99 l really want one but l bet they will all have gone today....going to kick myself later l think over this!!!
The pink roses still look beautiful and with the new cushion front and the new mugs the shed look is coming together
