part timers hey?

Roof completely off in the first hour...

old plastering will need extending a bit...
the angle wasn't right for the Velux windows so it's about a foot higher..suits me love it

Half a roof on and they ran out of screws!...Part timers gone home at 1.30!

Looking great so far and if this insulation doesn't keep us snug as a bug nothing will

Google says 'no rain' quite mild thank goodness for that!

WORKSHOPS: Making great progress on work room makeover

Chair painting today and the next couple of days...8 to paint and I took
8 SHADES OF WOOL into B&Q
to get matched paints, close to the chosen 8 colours.
colours like..... Warm Pink Suede, Hot Shot and Green Energy.

VALSPAR MATT INTERIOR PAINT
just a large match pot, 2 very helpful young men helped me search the hundreds of shade cards to find the best match.
I'm hoping each pot will be enough to paint a chair, if not back for a second one and at £3 a pot with my 10% discount on Diamond Wednesday it's a great deal, even if i need a second pot for each chair.

It was far too expensive to buy 8 colours of chalk paints and have loads left over.
So a mat varnish will be added to seal the emulsion paint.

8 of the chairs in the work room will be painted this week in readiness for the work shops.

Also found the giant floor cushion cover in one of the boxes this morning from Book 2
Granny Squares and Shapes...
2 different colour ways one for each side
Lunch and then the chair painting will start....soon know if one match pot does the chair

NEW CROCHET FRIEND...
Had a visit from a lovely new hooker Martha, not long moved to Shropshire and only lives a few minutes away.

I do hope we will become firm friends, she has changed my life already, telling me about decluttering and getting rid of 10 items a week to be clutter free.

I cant stop, doing 10+ items a day to kick start the declutter. I've have already done the kitchen cupboards, airing cupboard, make up draw and my tights draw...shoes and wardrobe will be getting the same treatment.

I'm using the 15 Minute Rule to do it too so not eating into my crochet time at all, the space is amazing just by removing 10 items and the you feel, light and free each time 10+ items go. Brilliant way yo declutter.

WORK ROOM CLEAR UP......and cushions every where

And clear out......if you're local and want to see the yarns, then pop by.
So far i've got 3 tubs, 3 boxes and several bags all needing a new home and a bargain at 50p a ball

From tomorrow its open house this week, then it will be off to a car boot to clear some yarn space.

someone wasn't helping but falling asleep on the only box that was empty... Thanks Mr T

Still a mountain to climb, but at least by bedtime yesterday i could see the floor and most of the table too
all the chairs need painting...a rainbow of colours i think?
and i've sorted the small mountain of cushions out
and this was just a few of them i found lurking in the depths of the wool bags

Picked a few to keep,  some to finish and which to unpick....so many we're drowning in cushions
the cushions that have survived best over the years and cats and washing are the ones made with a high % of wool or in cotton, the acrylic ones are not in as good a shape...
never again will i make an acrylic cushion

sorted at least large blue 3 Ikea bags out this morning

but there are still about 30 smaller bags and 20 boxes of samples to go through.....
lots better than it was before the weekend but still a long way to go

Early preparations for a Workshop at Home...

A few years ago we bought one of the huge extendable Norden tables from Ikea, after a couple of years I decided it was just too big for the space. So we divided it into a work table in a small room in the old house and used the middle leaf for another project and made a smaller table from the second half.....I still have the half table and 8 chairs....not big enough for at ,east 11 people

Having thoughts of doing a workshop at home i needed a that large table again, to seat around 11/12. We found the same long table for sale on eBay at a fraction of the cost and collected it last night.

My workoom at the moment is in desperate need of a huge tidy up, planned as soon as we've got rid of the old kitchen units piles up along one wall (new kitchen arrives tomorrow and the old one will be recycled over the next couple of days...off to be used in friends garages and workroom).

So still a little cramped right now but Phil bless him put it all together for me last night after i cleared enough space for it down the centre of my workroom....lots of tidying up and sorting out to do but it's just perfect for a workshop and with the half Norden table I still have it will sit around 12 easily.....and when the old kitchen units have been removed will have a good space all the way around at the moment its pushed to one side a little.

So many blankets hanging on the back of all the chairs...really must sort out at least one double cupboard at the end of the workroom to store some of them or there wont be enough room to sit on the chairs!
