Gerbera Octagon



OCTAGON DAISY MOTIF PATTERN

A bit like a Gerber flower 


Found this picture that I added to Pinterest many moons ago, I couldn't
find the pattern so i've re-written it link above.

I've used a random dyed yarn for this sample but you can use a plain yarn and  change colour each round

DK 4mm hook
or
Aran 5mm hook

Join as you go 2 points at sides and in the corners using a sl st. 
long trtr, petals, and infill pattern

MINI OCTAGON TURNS HEXAGON

NEW HEXAGON WHEEL PATTERN


Finger wrap of 4 wraps.

Round 1: ch2 counts as first dc, 17dc into wrap, sl st, to complete. [18dc]

Round 2: ch3, counts as first dc and ch1 sp, 1dc ch1 in next st, repeat to end, sl st, into first ch3 sp, to complete. [18 spokes]

Round 3: 2sc in each ch1 sp, sl st to complete. [36sc]

Round 4: ch2, counts as first dc, dc in next 5 sts, ch2, dc in next 6sts, repeat to end, sl st, to complete. [6 sides x 6 dc]

Round 5: sc, in each st, sc, ch3, sc, in corner sps, sl st to complete. [8sc each of 6 sides]

JOIN AS YOU GO IN every stitch or just in the corners of in corners and after 4sc stitches.

No in fills required for a Hex pattern 



ORIGIANL OCTAGON PATTERN
An Octagon with an in fill

USA Terms
DK, 4mm Hook
Aran 5mm hook
Chunky 6mm hook or 2 strands of dk

 MINI OCTAGON MOTIF
Magic Circle or finger wrap or Ch6, sl st into a circle.
Round 1: 16 dc into the circle, sl st to complete round.
Round 2: chain 4 as first 'spoke', *dc into next st, ch 2, repeat from * until you have 16 'spokes', sl st to complete round.
Round 3: 2sc in each chain space, sl st to complete round.

Round 4: attach yarn in any stitch, 1dc in the next 4 sts, ch3, 1dc in next 4 sts, sl st to complete round.
Join as you go side by side, will give quite a large 'hole' this can be left or filled with a small square.
Filler Pattern
A very simple granny square of 4dc per side.
Ch4, sl st into a circle.
Round 1: chain 2 as first dc, 3 more dc (4 in total), ch2, sl st though joined motifs, ch2, repeat for all four sides.

Ooops! Lost pattern OCTAGON DAISY WITH INFILL

top two motifs have a filled in centre to do that start with a circle of 8dc, I prefer the holes. 

PATTERN
US Terms
4mm hook dk yarn
5mm hook Aran yarn

change colour for each round 

Make a loose finger wrap of 5 wraps, or you can ch5, but the finger wrap saves on yarn, has no end, and looks neater.


ROUND 1: ch2(counts as first dc), 15dc into wrap, sl st to complete. (16dc)

ROUND 2: 2sc into each st, sl st to complete. [32sc]

ROUND 3: clusters of 4 trtr, [yarn over 4 times, pull through 5 times] but worked over 2st, and held after the 4th pull through on the hook so the last pull through is through all 4 sts, clustering the petal tog. ch3 repeat for all 16 petals, sl st to complete. [16 petals of 4trtr clusters]

ROUND 4:3dc, ch3 3dc, [corner] in any ch3 sp, 4dc in next ch3 sp, [side], repeat for all 8 sides. [10dc each side x 8]

join as you go between each 4dc at sides and the 3dc in corners, use a sl st to join the the first competed octagon.

INFILL

Finger wrap of 5 wraps, 
ROUND 1: ch2 counts as first dc, 3dc ch3, 4dc, ch3, 4dc, ch3, 4dc, ch3, sl st to complete. [4dc each side]

ROUND 2: Join as you go in the corners by using a sl st to replace the 2nd ch st.
2dc, ch1, sl st, ch1, 2dc, [corner] in first ch3 sp, 1dc in next 4sts, repeat to end joining in each corner, sl st, to complete. [8dc each side]
