OCTOGAN FLOWER +

 Flower Pattern from 2012
Has been adapted and updated and often used in lots of projects
Pattern Club version is the Pumpkin Shawl

I've used this version to decorate Octobers PATTERN CLUB PATTERN,

ORIGINAL OCTAGON FLOWER  Originally a large octagon Flower Pattern, plus a boxed version. 
FLOWER PATTERN
USA Terms, 
DK, 4mm hook
Aran, 5mm hook


Ch 3, sl st, into a circle...col 1

Round 1: 12 dc into circle, sl st to complete round....col 2 (12sts)

Round 2: 2sc in each st, sl st to complete round....col 3 (24sts)
Round 3: 1sc in each stitch (24sts) this the extra round at the centre
Round 4: Start in any stitch, 2dc in first and second st, ch4, miss a st, repeat until you have 8 sides sl st to complete round....picture above is the original octagon, the chain loops are just one ch st longer to take the petals


Round 5: attach yarn between the 2sets of 2dc with a sc, 



4dc into chain loop, chain 4 sl st into the base of the 4ch, to make the point of the petal, 4dc into same chain loop sc in the middle of the 4 dc of previous round, repeat until 8 pointy petals have been made, sl st to complete round.

FLOWER VARIATION



Chain 8 sl st to complete the circle
Round 1: [ch 2 counts as first dc], 24 dc into the circle, sl st to complete round.[24dc]
Round 2: 1sc in each stitch, sl st to complete round. [24sc]

Round 3:  Start in any stitch, 2dc in first and second st, ch4, miss a st, repeat until you have 8 sides sl st to complete round....picture above is the original octagon, the chain loops are just one ch st longer to take the petals

Round 4: attach yarn between the 2sets of 2dc with a sc, 

4dc into chain loop, ch3, sl st into the base of the 4ch, to make the picot at the point of the petal, 
4dc into same chain loop, 
sc in the middle of the 4dc of previous round, 
repeat for 8 pointed petals, sl st to complete. [8petals]
join as you go using the 2nd ch st, of each picot

NEW GWENDOLYN FLOWER PATTERN
Chain 8 sl st to complete the circle or a 2 finger 4wrap.

Round 1: 24dc [24tr], into the circle, sl st to complete round.

Round 2: 1sc [1dc], in each stitch, sl st to complete round


Round 3:  Start in any stitch, 2tr [2dtr], in first 2sts, ch6, miss a st, repeat to end, sl st to complete. (8 loops)



Round 4: attach yarn in sp, between the 2 sets of 2dc [2tr], with a sc [dc]
5dc [5tr], into the ch6 loop, 

ch4, sl st into the base of the ch4, to make a tiny loop at the point of the petal, 
5dc [5tr], into the same ch6 loop, sc [dc],  between the 2sets of dc [tr],
repeat for all petals, sl st to complete.

or continue to add an octagon box


Round 5: att. yarn in the point of a petal, ch3, 1tr [dtr], ch3, 1tr [1dtr], into the sc [dc], (dip) of the row before, ch3, sc [dc] into point of petal, 
repeat to end, sl st, to complete. 



Round 6:4sc [4dc], into first ch sp, 3sc [3dc], into middle ch sp, 4sc [dc], into third ch sp, ch2, repeat to end sl st into first st.

Round 7: cont. sl st into the next st, to be in the correct st to start round 7, 
ch3, counts as first dc [tr], and ch1 sp, miss a st, dc [tr], ch1, miss a st, 
1dc [tr], into next st, ch1, miss a st, repeat to first corner 
1dc [1tr], ch2, 1dc [1tr], in corner ch2 sp, 
repeat for each side, finish with 1dc [1tr] ch2, 1dc [1tr], ch1, sl st into first ch3 sp, cont. (7 spokes each side)

Round 8: ch1 counts as first sc [dc], sc [dc], into next ch1 sp, sc [dc], into next st, continue to sc [dc], in every sp and every st, to corner, sc [dc], ch2, sc [dc], in corner sp, repeat for all sides and corners, sl st into first st, to complete. 
(15sc [15dc] each side)

Use this round to join as you go in every st
