THE WINCHESTER...now completed

A Square blanket pattern, to use up all those left overs, worked with shaded sock wool, as one yarn with 5mm hook.
Divide all your left overs, into each colour and tie them all together in magic balls of reds, blues, green and purples, join with a yellow shade and crochet a colourful blanket.

 Joined with a loop join.

CHRISTMAS PRESENTS......Time to read them?

Such a busy time of year for me with the new Subscription Pattern Club almost ready to open its doors...all the details will be released soon and I'm well on the way with the first 3 designs. I need to keep one step ahead of all you excited Hookers
Not long to wait now

You cant go wrong for me with a Christmas present of books and these two will give be hours..days, months...years of pleasure

2 fabulous books for Christmas and not so much time to browse...
Both of these wonderful books i would recommend, a picture book and a very informative story book about colour, full of little gems you can dip into any page, absolutely fascinating
Tricia Guild, PAINT BOX.....as always full of wonderful colour combinations and fabulous room settings

Kassia St Clair, The Secret Lives of Colour....the title says it all, not many pictures, but full of great colourful stories and their origins and history.
How colour has touched the lives of many artist through the centuries...wouldn't be with out it
The paper back version will be out soon, but the hard back is worth the extra pennies

Inspired by the first few pages in Tricia's beautiful picture book

A reversible pattern with the white dominant on the one side and the colours dominate on the other, bit of a yarn eater but wonderfully chunky going to make a fabulous new bath mat in 5 colours of Cotton yarn

Morning Hookers, a terrible night I'm afraid so I'm likely to be asleep in the day today lol...hope you all managed a good night.
A memory came up on Facebook yesterday and i couldn't remember what it was...IT'S VERY BRIGHT!

Found it this morning while doing a bit of picture file housekeeping. The memory picture above and below the Mandala i was working on.....

Being used as a mat.....no idea when i did it but i haven't used that table cloth for a few years now 2015/2016 maybe?

PART 8: RULE OF 12 SCRAP YARN MINI CAL EDGING STITCH

The edging stitch has ch5 picots at every ch3 sp, the first and the last picots are joined together to 'straighten' the sides a little.

pictures above and below is the joined ch5 picots that fill in the 'dip' and make for a straighter edging

PATTERN
US Terms
Aran weight yarn
5mm hook
Black yarn to finish

ROUND 1: Att yarn in the second ch3 sp on any corner, 2sc, ch5 picot, 2sc in same ch3 sp, sc in next 3 sts, 2sc, ch5 picot 2sc in next ch3 sp, repeat for the next 4 x ch3 sps,

sc in next 3sts, into dip, sc into centre join sp, sc, in next 3sts, of next octagon,
2sc into first ch3 sp, ch2, use the next ch st as a sl st into the last picot loop of the previous octagon ch2, complete the picot, s2sc into same ch3 sp, sc in next 3 sts, 2sc, ch5 picot 2sc in next ch3 sp. repeat to end

Always joing the last and the first picots together to form a triangular join between octagon motifs
this will 'straighten the sides a little.....
 JOINING THE OCTAGONS TIP:
replace the middle ch st and do a sl st into the last picot to join them together then continue to finish the first picot as usual
first and last picots joined

Love this edging to the wrap, tried it on the blanket and it doesn't work so there will be another edging for the blanket next week

Some pictures of the blanket so you can see that it's not working on a large area blanket. It needs something far deep maybe a couple of inches adding.
I don't think i will be unpicking whats been done, but adding to the edging stitch already there.
Love the blanket though just needs more inches!

It's made quite a generous size blanket so far.
