CROCHET AND TECHNOLOGY.

How Technology can help with design...I should be doing other things, but they aren't as much fun so sharing a few new Tartan and Checks for the Cal to come this week...
Just a little playtime, the one round granny squares aren't joined for these picture.  t
They will be when i decide on the final blocks, but just so you can see whats possible with these little gems...

A slightly more sophisticated check/tartan with this collection of mini squares 


checks or stripe combo's can be achieved with the one round granny square 


still like little pennies, but they will be joined at each corner when the final block is decided on..enjoy

GRANNY SQUARE COAT Pattern and lots of motif variations

a well worn coat, always got lovely comments on when I wore it.

All the Hookers are all different shapes and sizes tall short and in between and it fits and suits them all..thanks to all for a modelling the coat for me xx

INTERLOCKING BLOCK STITCH COWL PATTERN

I did say i would have completed the Alternative Solid Granny Square Blanket for you today , but i did the 2" border but want to try a flower edge finish 
and I just ran out of time last night...later or tomorrows post, promise.

But here is a wonderful stitch to try in a Cowl pattern...

One group of my favourite stitches, interlocking stitches...mix plain with space dyed yarn or two shades of space dyed yarns together to get some fabulous effects....enjoy

LAYERED FLOWER DECORATION
US TERMS
dk, 4mm hook
Black centre, 2 rounds of coloured petals

Magic circle
Round 1: ch2, counts as first dc, 11dc into circle, sl st, to complete [12dc]
Round 2: cont in black, ch3, miss a st, sc, into next st, repeat to end sl st, to complete. [6 xch3 loops]
Round 3: att. petal colour, in any ch3, loop, ch2, 5dc, into loop ch2, sl st into loop, sl st, into next ch3 loops and repeat in each ch3 loop. [6 x 7dc, petals]

Round 4: cont in same colour, ch3, sc, between first round of petals, ch3 sc between next 2 petals, repeat to end. [6 X ch3 loops]

Round 5: att second petal colour, in any ch3, loop, ch2, 7dc into same loop, ch2 sl st into same loops, sl st into next loop repeat for all 6 petals, sly t to complete. [6 x 9dc, petals]

Leave a long end to sew on a pin
Make 3 and pin close together on the cowl

Giant 6 Petal Flower version with no infills PATTERN

Another similar flower to the Giant 8 petal, but this one only has 6 petals and can be joined like a hexagon with no filler.

Make all the difference sizes and layer them up too






AND FOR THOSE THAT ASKED ABOUT THE ORIGINAL IDEA 
To make a jacket...this is as far as it got

GIANT 6 PETAL FLOWER PATTERN
US Terms, 
DK, 4mm Hook
Aran, 5mm hook
2strands of dk 6mm hook

Pattern:
 Chain 4, sl st into a circle, finger wrap of 4 wraps, or a magic circle
Round 1: 12 dc into the circle, sl st to complete round
Round 2: 2dc in each st, sl st to complete round.
Round 3: attach yarn in any stitch, dc in next 4 sts, ch4, dc in next 4 sts, repeat until you have 6 loops.
Round 4 : attach yarn in the middle of the 4dc of round below to anchor petal, 7dc into the chain loop, sl between the 4dc of round below, repeat until all 6 petals are complete, sl st to finish

Join as you go in a hexagon pattern.
 chose just a few colours or make every flower different

2011 NOONOO GIANT FLOWER BLANKET

Noo noo our 1976 Camper Blanket from a 2011 pattern


needs a blanket for the bed and l did promise months ago to make one so my first bed cover is going to be for our beloved camper Noo noo...
this is the flower l am going to use, but still working on the colour choice
 simple solid center

I used a join as you go FOR JOINING THEM TOGETHER
I also used TWO DIFFERENT Round 2's for the Noo Noo blanket

12 PETAL FLOWER

FLOWER DETAILS...ORIGINAL BLANKET
6mm hook and two strands DK acrylic 

 FLOWER MEASURED: 8" diameter and l need to make it 40" wide x 54" 
long.

perfect to go over the seat when not up as a bed

Making 5 x 7 flower = 32 complete flowers.....a nice size to do
and l'm keeping the wavy edge
This is the camper so do l stay with the green and cream and a splash of orange or go for the rainbow of colour in the flags?...

first 7 made in reds and oranges
next round will be in the greens
loved it so far and Phil was pleased l was making NooNoo a blanket at last too!

PATTERN
Change colour every round or use a space dyed yarn with a shorter dye length
DK 4mm hook, makes a much smaller flower
Aran,  5mm hook
or
Chunky or 2 strands of DK, 6mm hook for the giant version

2 OPTIONS ON ROUND 2/3

NooNoo Flower Bed Blanket Pattern

a finger wrap of 4 wraps or ch5 els t to complete

Round 1:12dc [12tr], into circle els t to complete.
Round 2: Solid centre. 24dc [24tr], 2 in each st, els t to complete.
 (Round 2 option 2/3 :Spoke version. 12 dc [12tr], with a chain between each dc. 
Round 3: 3dc [3tr], in each ch sp)

Round 3: Solid centre. 36dc, [36tr], 2 in first st, 1 in the next repeat tot end, sl st to complete. 
Round 4: 2dc [2tr],  ch4, miss a st, 2dc [2tr], in next st, repeat 12 times, sl st to complete.



Round 5: Att, yarn between the 2 sets of 2dc [2tr], 8dc [8tr], into the ch4 loop, repeat for all loops, sl st to complete
