How Technology can help with design...I should be doing other things, but they aren't as much fun so sharing a few new Tartan and Checks for the Cal to come this week...

They will be when i decide on the final blocks, but just so you can see whats possible with these little gems...

still like little pennies, but they will be joined at each corner when the final block is decided on..enjoy

This is an old pattern but I can not recommend Moss Stitch enough for cushion covers. Its a firm and none stretch stitch that will give you a cushion cover that lasts years with out stretching out of shape.

Very decorative and can look so different, with just the colour combination you can achieve stripes spots or a tweed look.

Moss stitch blanket in a tweed finish, the same combination as the cushion, again its the same stitch just a different colour combination

Colour combinations give different looks but the stitch does change 

Same Moss Stitch different colour combo using space dyed yarn and a plain yarn gives something similar to a Fair Isle look

CROCHET CUSHION: Quick and easy Striped Diagonal Cushion Pattern

The Diagonal length of an 18" cushion

for me that was 60 ch sts..

with 2strands of Stylecraft DK you cn use the Aran or the chunky and adjust your stitches and a 5/6mm hook 

But you only need to do 21 rows fold the sides in and it makes a square

An oldie but a goodie

This was one of my patterns from years ago but still makes a quick and easy cushion cover

Diagonal Crochet Cushion...16,472 Rainbow stitches later...

I was making the 24" cushion covers and as l plopped it down it just sort of fell into a square although l had made it as a straight cushion afterwards i found that some made pot holders the same way

MAKING A CUSHION BAG

1st...l wanted a cushion with no ends and minimal sewing together when finished

So l did a long chain then dc down one side of the chain PLUS one stitch EXTRA at the end then, back up the other side and add another dc the other end,  sl st to complete the round.

24" CUSHION BAG PATTERN

I made my 24" cushions using 2 strands of DK and a 6mm hook,
Chunky and a 6mm hook.
Aran and a 5mm hook.  

For my tension l did a Ch50, you lose 2 chain with the first dc [tr], as you turn and work into the 3rd ch from the hook as the first dc, 

but gain them back with the extra 2 st increase one each end.

If using acrylic then try to keep your stitches quite tight adjust without size and the yarn will stretch a bit and be too big for your cushion pad after some use.

50sts and 39 rows

Straight forward and easy, you keep going until you have a bag big enough to fit the cushion
Adjust this number of sts, for your size of cushion and keep the stitches as tight as possible.

Add a Button band
Sew together 2" each side of the open end and add a crocheted button band of sc [dc], to fill the remaining space but 6 rows.
Add 4 or 5  buttons to the band which sits inside the opening and use the stitches as button holes

Diagonal cushion bag

On dropping the bag, it fell into a square a couple of times accidentaly, so the next one l made was made exactly the same way but with enough stitches to make the diagonal length of an 18" cushion

open it out and fold the diagonal sides into the centre and this is what you have...

keep going until it meets easily in the centre...

 don't stretch it to fit it must be flat and easily meet.

When you are happy with the fit sew up a couple of inches each end of the opening and add a button band in the same way as for the straight cushion bag

this is what it looks like half done, a quick and easy diagonal cushion bag

Try using hdc [htr], instead,  another great stitch for cushions

LEFT OVER FLOWERS

Got carried away with the left over flowers this morning added a few to the wrist warmers...bit of fun now got to make more to make a pair!!

TO WOOL SACK...FINISHED AT 2AM THIS MORNING

From cushion to bag to wool sack.....drawstring loops and cord....finished in the early hours and another cushion strip started and almost finished love the rainbow stripy designs

Lots of stripy lists written inspiration from every where

Suns back this morning yeeeeeeeees.....need a trip to town another ball of the beige wool to finish the cushion front

IKEA TRIP FOR LUNCH AND A LOOK..haha

ONLY A LOOK......not possible l'm sure....

made this cushion front last night used the lid from the mug box as inspiration

pile of magazines all have a variation on the modern vintage look at the moment...so many wonderful things to do and look at at the moment l just had to make a list so they didn't keep me awake at night!!! lol

must finish these two cushion.....used the rug as inspiration..adore stripes

OOOPS!!...Stripped the seat covers off the orange sofas yesterday and popped them in 3 loads in the washing machine....when the label said dry clean....all l will say is thank goodness they were looking a tad in need of replacement came out all crinkled and l'm not sure l can straighten them out..trip to IKEA today so l will have o look see what new colours they do or make some new ones maybe!!!.....silly me
